Daily Potomac flow and demand update (Tuesday 08/02/2011)

Potomac River flows have been steadily decreasing. Current flows at Point of Rocks are at 1890 cfs. National Weather Service (NWS) quantitative precipitation forecasts (qpf) indicate that an accumulation of approximately 0.5 inch of rain is likely for most of the basin over the next 5 days. Some areas have slightly higher or lower qpf totals.

Daily Flows:
Little Falls gage flow 08/01: 980 MGD (1510 cfs)
Little Falls gage flow 08/02: 890 MGD (est., based on recently available real time data) (1370 cfs)
Note: Gage flow at Little Falls is measured after water supply withdrawals.
Point of Rocks flow 08/01: 1160 MGD (1790 cfs)
Point of Rocks flow 08/02: 1220 MGD (est., based on recently available real time data) (1890 cfs)

Net Potomac Production (08/01/11):
FW Corbalis raw water withdrawal (Potomac): 156 MGD
WSSC Potomac Production: 156 MGD
Aqueduct withdrawal: 186 MGD
Total Potomac demand: 498 MGD
