Daily Potomac flow and demand update (Saturday 08/06/2011)

Minor precipitation events have kept flows relatively steady over the past 5 days. The Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center (MARFC) quantitative precipitation forecast indicates that over 1/2 inch of rain will fall throughout the basin over the next 48 hours. MARFC's new ensemble forecasts, available at www.erh.noaa.gov/mmefs/, indicate that flow at Point of Rocks has a good chance of rising above 2000 cfs sometime in the next 7 days.

Daily Flows:
Little Falls gage flow 08/05: 940 MGD (1460 cfs)
Little Falls gage flow 08/06: 860 MGD (est., based on recently available real time data) (1330 cfs)
Note: Gage flow at Little Falls is measured after water supply withdrawals.
Point of Rocks flow 08/05: 1180 MGD (1820 cfs)
Point of Rocks flow 08/06: 1150 MGD (est., based on recently available real time data) (1780 cfs)

Net Potomac Production (08/05/11):
FW Corbalis raw water withdrawal (Potomac): 138 MGD
WSSC Potomac Production: 129 MGD
Aqueduct withdrawal: 173 MGD
Total Potomac demand: 440 MGD
