Daily Potomac flow and demand update (Saturday 09/19/2015)

Flow in the Potomac River continues to slowly fall. According to the National Weather Service, there has been no precipitation in the Potomac basin over the past three days. There is a chance of rain on Monday, with accumulations of approximately 1/10 inch expected over much of the basin.

This weekend the US Army Corps of Engineers is planning an Artificially Varied Flow (AVF) release of water from Jennings Randolph Reservoir. At 10 AM this morning the Jennings water quality release will be increased from its current rate of 200 cfs to 1000 cfs. It will drop back to 200 cfs tomorrow at 4 PM. Little Falls gage flow 09/18: 1050 MGD (1630 cfs)
Little Falls gage flow 09/19: 960 MGD (est., based on recently available real time data) (1480 cfs)
Note: Gage flow at Little Falls is measured after water supply withdrawals.
Point of Rocks flow 09/18: 1150 MGD (1780 cfs)
Point of Rocks flow 09/19: 1060 MGD (est., based on recently available real time data) (1640 cfs)

Net Potomac Production (09/18/15):
FW Corbalis raw water withdrawal (Potomac): 126 MGD
WSSC Potomac Production: 140 MGD
Aqueduct withdrawal: 156 MGD
Total Potomac demand: 422 MGD
