Afternoon Potomac flow and demand update (Saturday 09/11/2010)

Potomac River flow at the USGS's gage station at Little Falls is now in the vicinity of 300 MGD. There may be some relief from the dry weather this weekend; the National Weather Service predicts accumulations of up to 1/2 inch of rain throughout much of the basin today and tomorrow. The release from the North Branch reservoirs will continue through the weekend.

Daily Flows:
Little Falls gage flow 09/10: 290 MGD (450 cfs)
Little Falls gage flow 09/11: 340 MGD (est., based on most recently available real time data) (526 cfs)
Note: Gage flow at Little Falls is measured after water supply withdrawals.
Point of Rocks flow 09/10: 680 MGD (1050 cfs)
Point of Rocks flow 09/11: 640 MGD (est., based on recently available real time data) (990 cfs)

Net Potomac Production (09/10/10):
FW Corbalis raw water withdrawal (Potomac): 123 MGD
WSSC Potomac Production: 168 MGD
Aqueduct withdrawal: 178 MGD
Total Potomac demand: 469 MGD

Patuxent, Occoquan, and Net Total System Production (09/10/10):
WSSC Patuxent withdrawal: 38 MGD
FW Occoquan raw water withdrawal: 80 MGD
Total System demand: 587 MGD

WSSC P.M. estimated demand: 210 MGD
FW P.M. estimated demand: 205 MGD
Aqueduct P.M. estimated demand: 150 MGD

Fairfax Water:
Begin shifting withdrawals to Occoquan Reservoir; today's Occoquan target: 90 MGD

WSSC:
Keep Potomac withdrawals as steady as possible.

Seneca (release date, time, amount in MGD):
No release from Little Seneca Reservoir is scheduled today.

Aqueduct:
Maintain Little Falls withdrawal at 125 MGD.

North Branch Reservoirs:
Maintain Luke target of 435 cfs. This requested 170 MGD release began at 8:30 am on Friday, September 10.
